Community Ledger

Community points with real bookkeeping — double-entry points, barter, disputes, and sponsorships.

A community points ledger built like actual accounting: double-entry points, barter exchange, dispute handling, and sponsorships — so community value doesn't live in someone's head.

If it matters to the community, it belongs in the ledger.

What it does for you

  • Double-entry, not vibes

Every point issued is a debit somewhere and a credit somewhere else. The books always balance — that's what makes points trustworthy.

  • Barter with a paper trail

Trade skills and goods inside the community with every exchange recorded — no more “I thought you owed me” arguments.

  • Disputes have a process

When trades go sideways, the ledger shows exactly what happened. Disputes resolve against records, not memories.

  • Sponsors fund the commons

Local sponsors can fund point pools — backing community activity with real support, tracked in the same books.

Capabilities

  • Double-entry community points — books always balance
  • Barter exchange with full trade history
  • Dispute workflow against ledger records
  • Sponsorship pools from local backers
  • Member balances and statements
  • Labor-points and fiat kept properly separate
  • Tenant-scoped per community

Proof, not adjectives

MVP built
Double-entry points, barter exchange, disputes, and sponsorships are built and working — the ledger balances by construction.
Community-tested design
Designed around real community commerce patterns: labor earns points, produce is paid in fiat, and the books keep both straight.
Extends, doesn't fork
Shares Creytix identity and pricing infrastructure — one member record, one honest set of books.

What they offer vs everything we offer

The time-bank and barter networks run on volunteer software — free, proven, and deliberately simple. The Community Ledger is the paid alternative built like actual accounting: double-entry books, a dispute workflow, and sponsor pools — for communities whose trading outgrew the spreadsheet.

Questions, answered honestly

Are community points real money?

No — and the ledger is careful about that. Points track community value (labor, barter, participation); fiat is fiat. Keeping them properly separate is the whole reason for double-entry.

Why double-entry for community points?

Because single-entry point systems always end with arguments about who owes what. Double-entry means every point has a source and a destination — the books balance, and disputes resolve against records.

Can members cash out points?

That's a community policy decision, not a software one. The ledger supports whatever redemption rules your community sets — including “points stay in the community.”

What happens when someone disputes a trade?

The dispute workflow pulls the ledger record for the trade — who sent what, when — and the community's process decides from evidence, not memory.

Do we need this if we're small?

A dozen neighbors trading favors can run on trust and a group chat. The ledger earns its keep when the trading volume passes what anyone can hold in their head — or when the first real dispute hits.

Why community points need double-entry bookkeeping

Community currencies die the same way: arguments about who owes what. Double-entry bookkeeping — every point a debit somewhere and a credit somewhere else — is the 700-year-old fix.
