Rules & context gateway

Serve fleet rule packs and prompt index to web, Continue, and contractors.

AI

Preview — early access. Coverage today spans a subset of clients and rule packs, with more on the roadmap.

Overview

Your workspace's rules — the conventions, guardrails, and playbooks that keep AI-assisted work consistent — live in one place. The rules gateway is what lets an external client, whether that's the Control Panel's own web chat, a tool like Continue, or a contractor's own setup, pull those same rules instead of everyone re-deriving them from scratch or working off a stale copy.

How it works

  1. Rule packs and a prompt index are kept in your workspace as the source of truth.
  2. The gateway serves the relevant pack to whichever client is asking — the web UI, a Continue config, or a contractor's session.
  3. Everyone working on the workspace, in whatever tool they use, works from the same rules rather than a local copy that's drifted out of date.

Steps

  1. Keep rules in your workspace

Author or update rule packs where your team already keeps them.

  2. Connect a client

Point the Control Panel's web chat, a Continue config, or a contractor's session at the gateway.

  3. Pull the current rule pack

The client fetches the current rules and prompt index instead of a stale local copy.

  4. Work consistently

Everyone — staff or outside contractor — works from the same source of truth.

Capabilities

  • Rule pack serving — the current rules for a workspace, available to any connected client.
  • Prompt index — a searchable index of the rules and prompts relevant to a task.
  • Multi-client — designed to serve the Control Panel web UI, Continue, and contractor setups from one source.
  • Contractor-safe — external collaborators can work against real rules without needing internal repo access.

Limits & honest scope

This is early — today it covers a subset of clients and rule packs, not every tool or every rule in your workspace.

  • It serves rules and context; it doesn't yet enforce that an external client actually follows them — that's still a review step on your side.
  • Full contractor onboarding flows are still being built. Check the changelog for current coverage.
